Meet Our Staff - Administration
Kathy Barrett (Credit Manager)

I started my career handling various aspects of billing at Columbia Home Health Agency in St. Petersburg, Florida. I have been with G&C Food since 1998 starting in the receiving office and moved into the Credit Account Manager position. I have an extensive history in the credit industryand look forward to discussing your credit options with you.


Suzanne Calkins (Payroll Administrator)

I've been with G&C Foods since 1997, starting in inventory control for Park Street Refrigeration. I have been the Payroll Administrator since 1999 but have worked in almost all administrative roles including receiving clerk, accounts receivable, accounts payable, & human resources. I love to volunteer on the employee event committees and enjoy interacting with the employees as much as possible. I have been married since 1991 and have five boys which include a set of triplets. You can find me most days at some sporting with my children, scrap booking, camping, or just chasing three active toddlers.


Mary Jane Maring (Accounts Payable Manager)

I joined G&C Foods in 1995 working in the administrative department handling Account Payables. I have made accounting a life long career starting in 1977. My concentration has been in accounts payable, inventory control and accounts receivable. In my time off I enjoy cruising with my Husband in our 1968 Camaro Convertible.


Theresa O'Connell (Accounting Assistant)

I was hired as the corporate receptionist for G&C Foods in January 2002. I am presently an accounting assistant. I have been in the food business all my life working in my parents restaurant. I am married and have a son and a daughter. I enjoy cooking, baking, taking long walks and spending time with my family.


Karen Russell (Staff Accountant)

I began my career in the Food Business directly involved with Food Service. I have been with G & C for many years, originally starting in 1979 and have been involved with many aspects of our Company, currently as the Staff Accountant. I am passionate about accounting and about G & C, looking forward to every day here and excited about our future. My hobbies are volunteer work and playing Golf, but most of all enjoying my time with my family.


Hugh Scolton (Senior Credit Controller)

I left the Army in 1969 and started working in slaughterhouse, working my way through production, warehouse, sales, purchasing and accounting while going to school. This was the begginging of a 39 year career in the meat business which now, happily brings me to G&C Foods and a whole new chapter in my life. I have an angel for a wife, four kids, four grandchildren, and three cats. My hobbies include photography and music.


Frank Smith (Director of Information Technologies)

I am a Syracuse native, graduated from Lemoyne College in 1996 and attended Villanova University for my Masters in Computer Science until July of 1997. I had been providing outsourced IT support to clients in upstate NY since then. I started working with G&C Foods as an outsourced consultant in 1999 and in 2008 I joined G&C Family as the Director of Information Technologies.


Melissa Swem (Human Resources Generalist)

I have been with G & C foods since February 2010. My previous experience included the administration of a variety of HR functions including payroll. I graduated from Le Moyne College in 1996 with a B.S. in Business Management, and a concentration in Organizational Development. In 2006, I achieved the National Certification in Human Resources (PHR). As an HR Generalist I hope to provide an excellent level of customer service to the employees here at G&C Foods. When I am not working, you can find me spending time with my family. We enjoy flying stunt kites, hot air ballooning, camping and the great outdoors.
